2955	Data in $HOME/.ghc is not validated leading to obscure error messages when using ghc	erikd "I installed cabal-install-0.6.0 from source, used ghc for a couple of days and then deleted the $HOME/.cabal directory.

A couple of days later a whole bunch of stuff was failing to compile with ghc. With a bit of help from the #haskell IRC channel, I tracked this down to the file $HOME/.ghc/i386-linux-6.8.2/package.conf which pointed to the recently deleted $HOME/.cabal directory.

The fix would be to validate all data in $HOME/.ghc and if needed provide a decent error message.
