Bjorn: It's a heck of a lot better than starting from scratch, but I don't think it's done. I sent Evan some patches for hdbus, but didn't get it to the point where I could put it on Hackage, and Evan doesn't think it's complete either:

"As the darcs logs for that show, I haven't touched that project [hdbus] in 19 months. (The patch from three months ago was submitted by some random stranger, and I applied it just because they thought it would be helpful.)"

"I appreciate your patches, but much of this stuff isn't really usable yet. I mostly had them online as backups of my local copies. I don't think that Memcache library, for example, really does anything..."

(I hope he doesn't mind me quoting from an email to me.)

There is also kolmodin's implementation (which works at the protocol level, not as a binding) which is partially complete.

Perhaps we could persuade kolmodin to propose the project and mentor it.

As I understand it, kolmodin wants to finish this project himself so I'm marking it as not a good proposal.

For convenience, I packaged them up (better), and stuck'em on Hackage:  http://hackage.haskell.org/cgi-bin/hackage-scripts/package/DBus-0.1
