ATLAS is a set of routines meant for scientific computing. they are automatically optimized for the architecture they run on. the goal is to write haskell bindings for these.

Difficulity: Low. Will learn FFI and maybe c2hs

 http://hackage.haskell.org/cgi-bin/hackage-scripts/package/blas already exists, and ATLAS tries to be a drop-in replacement for BLAS. All one would need to do is re-link against ATLAS, no?
